We all stand on the shoulders of giants, and that goes for dog websites as well! This page is dedicated to recognizing those who helped with this 20-year (and beyond!) effort.

First, the technical side:

This website is hosted by HostMonster. Great support, and very easy tools that even I can understand!

The website builder software is by Ewisoft. A wonderful package that makes it easy to update pages on the fly. An absolute must for a project of this scale. You can download a free copy to learn with, but I recommend the fully-operational edition.

The software for both the pedigree database application on this website, and the underlying software I use to create and maintain the database, are both products of Wild Systems. The pedigree database is housed on my home computer using Breedmate software. I couldn't have created a simple database to hold as much information as this one holds without a very flexible software program that is not a resource hog! The web-based pedigree program is Pedigree Point, companion software to Breedmate.

Now the people:

Adrienne Bordo has supported this effort since its first fledgeling attempts, and through many changes in database software. She has also provided much, much information on Canadian Chesapeakes, and spent many a night bidding on obscure antique dog books on e-bay  for me that contained much-needed information. Adrienne and her husband Norman have been breeding Chesapeake Bay Retrievers for almost 40 years under the Beartown prefix.

Dyane Baldwin released much information which had been compiled by Eve Keeler, and more that had beeen compiled by Dyane herself in her role as ACC Historian. Much of this effort was in response to recognizing that when moving paper data between volunteers, some things can get lost. This was, in part, an effort to collect as much data as possible electronically and make a permanent record. Dyane is the breeder of Pond Hollow Chesapeakes, a name which appears behind many of the dogs you will find in the database.

George Makatura, who spent many hours trying to teach me the rudiments of website creation and data security. George is the owner of Brave Arts Web Design, and Del Brave Chesapeakes.

Joanne Silver, ACC Historian, who has forwarded essential documents as they have been uncovered in the ACC Archive. Joanne's Silvercreek kennels have produced many top-winning dogs.

JoAnn Colvin, who as President of the ACC shared my vision of an online database of Chessie history. JoAnn, along with her husband Jim, have experimented with different pedigree formats and acted as guinea pigs for this effort. They own the Cal-I-Co prefix, and have bred many quality dogs.

Ginny Reed, who shared her database of WD, WDX & WDQ dogs. She has maintained this database up-to-date for a number of years. A copy of this database is viewable on the ACC website WD page.

And to the many who have offered up information on their dogs, have written articles for this site, or provided other information, I thank you!

All of this having been said, there are many, many errors contained within the database. All errors are mine, and not those of any of the people or corporations mentioned. If you spot an error, please contact me at faralloncbr@yahoo.com.
