~New PRA Page - Quick Links~ A new article on PRA can be found here. More will be added over the next few weeks, as new information comes in. The Site Map tab has been renamed Quick Links. The page still includes a site map, but at the top of the page are links to pages most frequently accessed by visitors to the site. DM, PRA and thyroid all have Quick Links currently. If there is a page you would like to see added as a Quick Link, please contact me and let me know. A new page on Research Projects can be found under the Dog Health Organizations page. A link to the page is also found on the right-hand side of each page, just under the link to the database. The Research Projects page is a listing of links to projects receiving samples or looking for participation from Chessies or any breed (including Chessies). If you have a dog with a particular disease or condition, check this page to see if there is an opportunity to help research efforts through blood or tissue sample submission, or if there may be a new drug or other treatment being investigated which may help your best friend. More Changes to Database! You may have noticed the database was down a time or two in the last week. That is because I have been tweaking the underlying structure so that I can include more information. Each dog in the database now includes almost all of its health check information. Data now listed in all pedigrees and other database results includes: Hip results, elbow results, eye exam, DNA test results for DM, PRA & EIC. Also included are all OFA results, including Heart, Thyroid, Patella & Shoulder results, for those dogs who have them. Results include not just OFA, but Penn Hip, OVC, BVA & FCI results, where I have access to the data. Additional information includes a dog's CHIC number (read this article for more information on what CHIC numbers mean). COIs are now, once again, able to be seen and compared. At this time, it is still not possible to calculate COIs via the new trial pedigree function. Updates to how COIs are calculated and limitations can be accessed on the COI information page. If you have a dog that has been tested with either of the two DNA-based tests for rare diseases (MPS-VI & CBRED/SF) and would like the information released, please contact me at chessieinfo@yahoo.com. Likewise, if your dog has a test result and you do not see it displayed in the database, please contact me. It usually means I do not have documentation of the result, and you will have to send me the information. Pedigree Pictures Coming Soon! I will once again be adding dogs' photos to the pedigree database. I will be working on this function over the next few days/weeks, and you should be able to view some of the pictured dogs in pedigrees. Unfortunately, this also means the site may be down from time to time until I get all the bits of code to play nicely together! New Acquisitions and Wants! I have made some purchases recently of Field Dog Stud Books, and older AKC Stud Books. These dogs will be added to the database as time permits. Some dogs with identical names have been separated out and their offspring correctly assigned. This has resulted in changes to some older pedigrees, and slight changes to COIs on these dogs and their descendents. Most modern dogs will not notice a change in their COIs. I am still in need of CKC stud books predating 1985. Also, any AKC Awards results from 2000 and before would be most appreciated. So check those attics and basements and see if there are any dusty copies lying around. I will pay fair market price for issues I am still in need of. I will be posting a detailed list of needs in future. Trial Pedigree Feature is Now Functioning!! The "Trial Pedigree" Function is now working. Please bear with me, as I am still fine-tuning the coding, look and "feel" of the feature. Most notably, you will see dogs' names appearing and disappearing from the Sires and Dams lists. Also, some of the other ChessieInfo Database features may be turned on and off periodically during the next few days as I move files around and fine-tune the code. Enjoy! Free Stud Dog Ads Now Available! Maintaining genetic diversity is necessary for the continued health of our breed. With this in mind, ChessieInfo is now offering free Stud Dog ads. Dogs do not need to have any particular titles or health clearances in order to be listed. Read more about stud dog ads on the new Stud Dogs page. To submit your dog's info, use the Stud Dog Information Form. Each stud dog has his own full-page ad, which includes links to his ChessieInfo pedigree and breeding records. Update Your Dog's Data! You can now submit data on dogs easily with the new Dog Data Submission Form. New dogs, or dogs missing from the database, new titles, or new health check results can be entered using the form. If you have a stud dog and want to add his offspring to the database as new litters get registered, you can do so using this form.
Welcome to ChessieInfo! This site has been created for the free sharing of information on pedigrees, health, and genetics of Chesapeake Bay Retrievers and related breeds.
